Do I even have to ask the question? Several of you that know me well would give a resounding 'yes!' to that question. But am I really? Can it be blamed on my first-born status? Here are some goofy things that I do that could be labeled obsessive compulsive:
1. My movies are kept in alphabetical order. There was a short time in my life when I watched them in alphabetical order, too. My sister reminded me of this and at the time I denied it wholeheartedly, but she was right.
2. All of my bath gels and lotions have to match in scent, if they have one. I can't use one scent in the shower and a different one for lotion. And if I receive them as a gift, I have to use them in the order I received them.
3. I rotate Georgia's onesies and I have her Sunday outfits picked out for the next month. I used to do this for our sock/underwear drawer, too, but that got to be too much work.
4. I can't throw away a product unless it has been used absolutely all the way. I'm afraid if I do, I'll feel wasteful, then guilty. But since I have never done it, I don't really know if that's what would happen or not.
5. I love to make lists and cross things off. I also love to add things to lists. My lists are never ending. :) In fact, last weekend Andy and I were in Des Moines and he took me to eat at our favorite restaurant, The Cheesecake Factory. I actually keep a list in my wallet of each kind of cheesecake I've had there so that I don't order the same kind twice.
Why am I sharing all my quirky habits? I don't know! Some of you are thinking how silly I am and others (probably first-born children, too) are thinking, "yes, that makes perfect sense!" Now you all know me a little better, but please don't hold it against me.

ReplyDeleteMe too,by the way. For example: If there is just a little bit of toothpaste left in the package I have to cut it open to get the rest out of it. I will feel nervous when I throw it away leaving some stuff in it. I always thought I was the only one doing it.. now.. thank you for sharing this habbit :)
lace,
ReplyDeletei am glad you are this way.
This first-born sees nothing quirky in your list!
ReplyDeleteI can't relate to any of this LOL!
ReplyDeleteAnother first born here.
ReplyDeleteWhile I haven't obsessed over all the same things, I can definitely relate.
I too HAVE TO use up all of a product before tossing it. It's amazing how many days you can keep using that face soap after it appears to be empty!
My obsessions usually relate to safety: Yes, I'm sure I checked to make sure the stove was off, but I'm just going to double check before I go to bed (etc, etc).
Lacey...I really enjoyed reading this. I'm quite curious what your mother thinks about this...she and I were both LAST born children. I share none of these traits so did they come from her?...or is it a first born thing? For example, I despise lists...I throw away everything before it's used up - prbly because I've had it since 1967 and fear it's gone bad...I couldn't even tell you the last movie I watched (last night)...however, I do like my bath gels and lotions to match!!
