Yesterday was my first OB appointment. Well, really it was my OB interview. You don't actually meet with a doctor, just a nurse and she asks about a bazillion questions. Things like if there are any weird diseases or family members born with birth defects on either side of our family, if we smoke or drink, if I'm allergic to anything, if I am dealing with nausea (yes, I am!) yada yada yada. It's all the same information we gave them when we were pregnant with Georgia. The only change is that since I've already had a baby, the nurse had to ask about my last pregnancy and delivery.
She was also telling us about this test we could have done to determine whether or not the baby may have Down's Syndrome. We didn't have the test done with Georgia and we aren't doing it this time either. However, because the test has to be done between 10 and 13 weeks (I'm 12), the nurse wanted us to meet with a doctor. So we did and declined the test, but Andy asked her if she wouldn't mind trying to find a heartbeat for us. So she did and it was so great to hear it! It was no less amazing than when we heard Georgia's heartbeat for the first time.
Some other good news...they gave us a due date of February 11 instead of the 13th. Two days earlier? I'll take it! So if the baby is born on the due date his/her birthday would be 2/11/2011. Cool, huh?
