There are schools here in Davenport that are already back in session. I know we still have a good month left of summer, but it seems that when it's back-to-school time, it's actually fall. I do enjoy the summer and yet as it wanes, I am looking forward to autumn. But now, especially because I'm a mom, I have no desire to fast forward time. So I thought I should make a list of things that I love about summer and that by mid-January I'll be looking forward to again:
*The sound of locusts and crickets at night and birds chirping in the morning
*Ice cream
*The smell of cut grass
*Going for leisurely strolls
*Fresh veggies - tomatoes, peppers, green beans and of course, corn on the cob
*Fireworks
*Sun tea
*Ice cream
*Capris and skirts
*Fireflies
*Thunderstorms at 8:00 in the morning
*Sandals and painted toenails
*Did I mention ice cream?
