A Date With Me

Tonight I had a date with myself. It was lovely. Today was Andy's day off and so after a family day together, he encouraged me to get out for awhile - alone. I gladly accepted the offer.

Time to myself is wonderful for two reasons:

1. It doesn't happen a lot so it's a real treat. (Not that I can't or don't want to, it just doesn't.)
2. I'm an introvert and am re-charged by having time to myself; to think, shop, read or whatever I want to do without keeping an eye on a wandering toddler. (I should say two eyes!)

So tonight I packed up my book and my credit card and did a little Target shopping and then sat at Starbucks for an hour and a half to drink a yummy mocha and read my book.

(Rabbit trail: I'm reading "Decision Points" by George W. Bush and it's really good, despite my lack of political knowledge. Did you know that he was in bed when he learned that he'd become the 43rd President of the United States? I totally forgot about all the re-counting of votes in Florida for Bush v. Gore.)

I came home to Andy who had put Georgia to bed and was giving Lola a bottle. I feel so refreshed! So much so that it's 10:15 pm and I'm thinking of folding some laundry...

  1. That's great!! I'm sure shopping without your wandering toddler was relieving, but you should try taking Madge to the store sometime! Last time we were at Wal-Mart she ran up to a lady (an absolute random stranger), grabbed her around the leg, and blew a big wet raspberry on her leg!!! It happened so fast there was nothing I could do, but thankfully the lady just thought it was hilarious and so did her husband. I just said, "Oh my gosh, I'm glad it's okay. I am so sorry."
She has also been known to run right in front of people's carts and yell at them really bossy-like to, "Watch out!"
